Screw that - ANY pizza is awesome, I honestly believe that. Eating pizza from Round Table while trying my hardest to eat better is difficult. Who's Excited?

I wasn't. I expected a gain, and I got one. A whole one pound gained, on the nose. I explained my dilemma and the weigh-in super-lady leans in and says, "menstruation?" to which I reply, "Yeah, I'm totally on my period." I hate the word menstruation, it sound so like a cross between 'flowing river' and 'administration.' Oddly enough, a period is sort of like checking the flo of flow, but whatever. She explains that its natural to gain weight and even though I know this, it feels good to have an expert pretty much tell you that its no so bad that you got a slight bit more rubenesque this week.

I'm not going to let the one pound up thwart my efforts to slim down. i ate a smart lunch and I cooked a delicious, lip-licking-full-of-veggies dinner. Diary breakdown underneath:

Sun-Up:

1 grande starbucks iced cafe con leche w/ 2% milk and 2 splenda pkts

snack:

1 pt nut Butter bliss WW bar

'round noon:

4 cups chefs salad w/ 4 tbsp bleu cheese dressing
1/2 cup shrimp cocktail

honey, dinners ready!:

2 cups fresh pineapple
5 oz grilled chicken no skin, no bone
(lots) steamed broccoli & cauliflower
2 cups new recipe! Parsnip/onion/sage/fennel/yam/red potato/carrot mix

I still beaucoup points left AND I had a giant portion of the new recipe (which is so good, by the way, that I needed two napkins...if you catch my drift. *wink*wink*). I feel good about that.

Activity: I did 15 minutes of Wii fit training this morning which makes me actually able to feel my abs again. who knew!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://toddlerweight.blogspot.com/2009/03/weigh-in-whos-excited.html' title='Weigh-In. I went beyond climbing onto the ledge and yelling softly to be talked down from it. I climbed out the window, onto the ledge and jumped off last night, straight into a vat of Ruffles.

They were broken chips and I had a few handfuls but I would be generous in saying there were 36 whole chips. The points value on those bad boys are a whopping 11.5 points. Fucking oi! Since this eating fiasco struck at 2 am (yes, 2 a.m.) I will be counting those as my "breakfast" points for the day.

I blame my period. My filthy bitch of a period who has come back with a vengeance to thwart all weight loss efforts, and in general, ruin my fucking day. The Mirena has been a lifesaver (or should I say life preventer)and I have rarely gotten my period in the past few years, but now I seem to get visits all the time. It's like having one of those family member that you accept for who they are but can't really stand, move closer to where you live and begin to drop by more often.

If you are reading this and you don't get what Im trying to explain, let me make it supafly and supaclear. I have a vagina, therefore I graze when its 'that time.' Weight watchers or no weight watchers, my insides told me to feed them last night.

Here is todays's verdict so far:

Midnight to 2am:
36 ruffles (11.5pts)
1/4 cup Wasabi & Soy almonds (4 pts)
1 ea 100 cal pkt of doritos (3 pts)
4 sugar free particles (1 pt)

This is not, NOT, NOT a healthy snack, but like I said, I blame the ol 'rag'time melody and the fact that I had 4 cups of coffee after 8 pm. Awake , bored and hungry.

The extremely pleasing, the very excellent news is that I am sharing this here and realizing how bad it looks. I feel bad too, that I put this horseshit into my body in the middle of the night/morning. I will be adding this to my today points and will spend the rest of my day eating better. Veggies, soups, whatnots.

*wish me luck and check in later.

***UPDATE***

*Lunch*
chips & salsa 10 pts
steaks(hardly ate) shrimp and chix fajitas - 13 pts

6:51 pm. I just had dinner and I think I stayed in my points range. I took GiGi to the Zoo and for a 30 minute walk earlier so, total time walking was over two hours NICE! For dinner I used my activity points and ate a 4 pt turkey WW meal and grilled onions, carrots, zucchini and asparagus under the broiler for ZERO points. Nice and filling.

whew. I think I can recover and dring the shit out of some water before my wednesday weigh in. Im still feeling like Im going to be plus a pound or two because of AF. We shall see.

Diary of a Weekend Tracker

Saturday-
march 21, 2009

*Breakfast*
1 cup shredded mini wheat
1 cup fat free milk

*Snack*
1 ea pear

*Lunch*
1 ea grilled chix club from McDonalds/ no mayo
1/2 srv kids fry

*Dinner*
bowl of mixed greens salad
1/2 cucumber
1 oz low fat feta cheese
4 tbsp light bleu cheese vinaigrette dressing
2 c. pineapple slices
1 ea grn onion
3 tbsp bacon bits

*snack*
air popped popcorn
1 tbsp melted butter
2 sugar free popcicles

(stayed in points!)

*Activity*
30 min low intensity cardio

Sunday-
march 22, 2009

*Breakfast*
1 coffee w/ 4 tbsp ff half&half
2 slices bacon

*Snack*
1 ea pear

*Lunch*
1 ea whole wheat pita
6 thin slices deli ham
6 thin slices deli chix
4 mini gerkins
1 tbsp brown mustard
1/2 tomato
1 ea mozz stick
1 ea WW cheddar cheese
1 pkt 100 cal pk Doritos

*Dinner*
bowl of mixed greens salad
1 pkt 1 point dressing
1 ea baked veggie calzone with light cheese

(stayed in points, I think)

*Activity*
40 min low intensity cardio/yoga

I've gone into the weekly points so, oops. It was a rainy day today and yesterday was a bit blustery (thanks for the word pooh, so I ended up staying indoors. Honestly, I didn't mind so much since Gia is still getting used to walking around on her own- zero assistance. To rainy to walk, but since the nieces moved their Wii into out house on friday, we decided to buy a Wii fit and subsequently a My Fitness Coach game. Woo hoo. I have to say, it's addicting so far. I like the hula hooping, soccer balls flying at my head, and the boxing. Great thing to have in the house while my toddler goes through her terribly terrible twos and keeps me house bound on many-a-great-day. I feel like telling Bally's Fitness to suck it now.

I digress... great weekend aside from the hands straying into the cabinet for something salty to add to the already Aunt flo' esque bloat.

Recipe: Wonton Soup

One jumbled word: Delicifuckinglous.

4 srvngs Cilantro Chicken Mini Wontons (Trader Joes/ 4 srvngs=16 pcs = 3 pts)
4 cups Fat Free Chicken Broth
1 cup Bok Choy
1/4 cup Green Onions
1/2 cup Sliced carrots
1 cup Water

Toss everything in a sauce pot and bring to a boil. Read on ad begin drooling at any moment.

2 pcs Large Frozen Chicken, boneless/Skinless (11 points/ or weigh and 1 oz = 1 pt)
1-2 ea Limes (o pts)
1 tsp Salt (o pts)
1 tsp Pepper (or to taste) (o pts)
1 ea Shot Glass of Tequila (2 pts)
6 ea Yellow Corn Tortillas (5 pts/ or 1 pt each)
6 oz Low Fat Cheddar Cheese (7 pts)
1 cup Green Onions (o pts)
4 tbsp Light Sour Cream (2 pts)
1/2 cup Fat Free Refried beans (1 pts)

+ endless amounts of fat free salsa and cilantro if you prefer, for zero points ;)

Spray a little FF Olive Oil into a nonstick pan and toss in the 2 chix brst, cubed, along with pepper and salt. Halfway through cooing, squeeze limes.

Makes 6 servings. Distribute everything evenly and you will have 4 points per serving. Personally, I can manage to use 4 tortillas and spread my ingredients pretty thin. I don't like fat tacos! But I plunked the info into WW recipe builder and here are our measurements.

7-1/2 weeks

I stepped on the scale at Weight Watchers 7 and a half weeks ago. I was surprised by the number that cocked its sassy head to the side and stared back at me but not because of how big it was. I was more surprised by how the number stared back at me, comfortable and at home. It had been there for a while and I just sort of started to accept it.

fuck.

fuck fuck fuck.

When I started, I was at my all time highest weight in my life. MY LIFE people. That's disturbing. In fact, I'm never going to be one of those people who just blurts out her weight, ever, so I will spare you the number and you can spare me the questions :) I will say this though, Im happy at how I've been trotting along since I joined. I've joined here and there and attended the first meeting and then avoided going altogether after that. The very first time I joined, I lost 56 lbs total. It changed my life for the better. I ran, and went to the gym. My arms looked nicer and my waist shrunk...my HIPS shrunk. In general, life was better because I looked and felt healthier. I want that again, and finally, I am being consistent and enthusiastic about this lifestyle change.

This time however, I want to document my travel a little better than the other times because I am 100 times more sincere than ever before. My health means more to me now that I have a 2 year to set an example for. I always worried that she would get picked on when she got older for her size, or that she would be insecure, like so many of us were at a younger age, and hate her body no matter how beautiful it was/is. As fate would have it, she does have some of my genes, but she also has Optic Nerve Hyperplasia and as a secondary disease, pituitary dwarfism (tech name.). She will, in effect, always have an enviable metabolism and tiny waistline. No vision but a killer body for a lifetime. What kind of a world do we live in? Anyway, my point is that my goal is to teach her how to be healthy so that she lives a life of such and passes it on to her children someday. I can't say that I had that same healthy lifestyle when I grew up.

Here we are, two years into parenthood and the heaviest I've ever been. I promise myself that I will be as candid and honest, as open and heartfelt as I can possibly be about my weight loss without actually giving my weight of course. I have so many new things I'm creating in the kitchen and I want to share them someplace. Here goes everything:

Week 0: ouch! time to suck it up and get on track.
Week 1: LOST -4.4
Week 2: GAINED +2.4
Week 3: LOST -5.2
Week 4: LOST -4
Week 5: LOST -0.6
Week 6: LOST -4.6

As of my seventh week I am down a total of 16.4 lbs since I started this whole thing and I couldn't be happier. let's face it, I joined the Weight Watcher program because I needed to be held accountable for that number on the scale. Nothing says loving like having a stranger-turned-confidante clap wen you lose a pound and a few ounces. I'm a visual person and a somewhat competitive girl as well. there's a reason my child likes applause and that's because I do too. I like when a room full of people applaud the work it takes to lose a pound and I love that I'm just as stoked about their weight loss too. This blog, this journal of sorts, is also a very visual way for me to talk (or rather type) through the things I want, like a glass of wine and chocolate when I have zero points left.

Enjoy or hate, but here I am.
